The Hoh River
Picking up speed
Down the Hoh River
I grabbed a tree branch
To cling to control instead of free flow towards the unknown
An action rooted in fear
The paddle board began to flip, and we accepted what was near
Picking up speed
Down the Hoh River
Engulfed by the blue green water
I felt safe clinging to the board
An illusion of security
As the rushing current was dangerously coming toward
Picking up speed
Down the Hoh River
Then I heard fear in his voice
An unfamiliar sound that penetrated through my glaze
I crawled back on board
And we paddled across river to shore
Picking up speed
Down the Hoh River
I wonder,
What would have happened
If I let Jesus take the wheel and lead
How long would we have stayed afloat
Picking up speed
Down the Hoh River?
I believe
We would have been here
We always are when we flow
Instead of fear
As we pick up speed
Down the Hoh River
The Hoh River is a magical river in Olympic National Park in Washington state, home to Sasquatch and other beautiful wildlife. It’s a Class II-III river and paddle boarding on it is not recommended. We didn’t have kayaks and were craving adventure. One of the best ones yet…
